How To Train A Client To Use ABC Classic
  1. On a computer, open the website and the CMS.
  2. If it is still ozstaging tell them it is a staging server and is not live yet.
  3. Log in to the CMS.
  4. If roll back is installed, explain to the user that they will be logging in as an Approver but they can add Editors who can't approve pages. When an editor adds a page or modifies content an email is sent to the Approver to approve the content.
  5. Go to the CMS and show them:
    1. Click on Pages
    2. Add a page
    3. Tell them it is hidden (gray)
    4. Unhide the page, show them the page on the live site
    5. Edit page title
    6. Add meta title for SEO (explain it)
    7. Add a paragraph
    8. Click T to paste as plain text <-- the thing to remember
    9. In the HTML area:
      • make text bold
      • insert link
      • insert table
    10. Add image + image URL
    11. Explain the alt tag for the image is what you see when you hover over the image.
    12. Explain that the image alt, URL and caption are optional. Also, the image is placed to the left/right of the design. However there is a full width image element that places itself underneath paragraphs.
    13. The image URL can be a mailto: to allow clicking on the image to create an email.
    14. View it on the site + click it
    15. Add full width image
    16. Add download, etc
    17. Tell them the Paragraph is used 90% of the time
    18. Add News, etc
    19. If it is a rollback system, explain to the user that they can preview a page with its unapproved content by clicking on its Page Location
  6. Back to pages, explain every menu item when you hover over a page
  7. Create a new website user
    • Assign to a group
    • Set the test page to the group, making it password protected
  8. About secure user name and strong password (not easy to guess, combination of letters & numbers)
  9. Go through all other items in the CMS (Right margin, Miscellaneous, etc)
  10. Registration form
    • Thank you page
  11. Other hidden pages (Disclaimer, Privacy, etc)
